Katie Garibaldi’s music video “Unhappy Holiday” was presented with the award for Best Original Song at the LA Under the Stars Film Festival, where it screened to a live audience last night at El Cid Theater in Los Angeles! ✨🎶
LA Under the Stars received over 800 film submissions and only 28 selections were officially selected to screen. Garibaldi was in attendance at the fest to accept the award in person. Click here for some photos from the event (more to come). 💜

“I never really intend for a song to be about something when I get inspired to write, but I follow the muse where it takes me. If I end up speaking about God in the song then I just let it flow and try to allow the message to come through. I believe there’s always a spiritual element to my songwriting because I let the creativity come from somewhere beyond the walls of just little old me.”

“I wrote ‘Our Home Awaits Us’ when I was a kid and recorded it as a solo piece on my second album when I was in high school. It’s about a holy home we return to surrounded by God’s grace after this life is through. 🙏🏼✨ When planning my album Home Sweet Christmas, I thought the song would fit well on it, and I reworked it into a more gospel arrangement with a full band format. It was really fun to produce the different layers of this track (you can download or stream it if you haven’t heard it already), and it was also a nostalgic and special experience for me to revisit this song after so many years. ” (Katie Garibaldi, Instagram)
